Apex System

The new Apex System is the high performance multi-sports timing system. It provides high-level accuracy at high speed and high density. The system is easy to handle, easy to carry and weatherproof.

With Apex it is possible to time higher speeds compared with the classic System. Furthermore Apex is more suited for sports, such as speed-skating, in-line skating, swimming or skiing where use of mats can be awkward or impossible.

  • Easy system set-up with simple wire antennas

  • Maximum transponder passing speed: 1 to 25 m/s (90 km/h; 56 mph)
  • New battery with more than 15 hours of field power
  • Intuitive operation
  • Highly accurate GPS synchronization
  • Connectivity through Ethernet and GPRS
  • Detection range: 1 cm to > 1 m
  • Detection probability: ~ 100%
  • Accuracy: ± 1/100 sec. (increases at higher speeds; drops at lower speeds)

The standard APEX system consists of the following components:

  • Reader (in Pelican case)
  • Antennas of 4 m (13 ft) and 8 m (26 ft)
  • Cable set (Power cable, 12 V cable and Ethernet cable)
  • SD card (1 Gb)

Apex transponder

The Apex Chip is an active transponder with its own battery. It automatically sends a series of transponder codes after being triggered by the detection antenna. The weight of the transponder is less than 12 grams The life span of the battery is 3 years as it has an optimized energy consumption with a motion sensor. At high speeds it is possible to time with an accuracy of 0.01s.

The Apex transponder external features are compatible with the traditional ChampionChip.

  • The normal doming inserts fit for branding purposes
  • The sticker inserts fit for numbered chips
  • The chips fit into a bike-clip
  • The chip can be attached to the shoe Standard ankle straps can be used
 

 

 

Antenna

The antenna is a simple conductive wire and has a terminator of 330 Ohm. It can easily be connected to the connectors at the back of the reader. The System is supplied with an antenna of 4 meters and an antenna of 8 meters.

Because timing higher speeds is possible with Apex and mats do not have to be used, a number of new sports can be served, such as:
