There are 4 types of ChampionChips. The types differ
in housing, size and reading distance and have slightly
different uses.
In general, all Chips of whatever housing should be
placed as low as possible, in order to cross the antenna
mats in an optimal way.
There are no batteries in ChampionChips. The transponder
is passive until moved over the magnetic field, generated
by a antenna in the antenna Mat. Here the energizing
coil produces an electric current to power the chip.
The transponder then transmits its unique identification
number to a receive antenna in the antenna Mat. This
whole procedure takes approximately 60 miliseconds and
is repeated continuously.
